In a close encounter, Team Akhilesh Yadav managed to hold its nerve and clinch a 2 run victory over the Chief Secretary’s XI in a cricket match organised as part of the IAS officers’ Services Week celebrations, at the La Martiniere ground in Lucknow on Sunday.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav who was the top scorer, smashing 52 runs off 36 balls, walked away with the man of the match trophy.

The Chief Minister's XI team won the toss, chose to bat and scored 141 runs in 20 overs.
The IAS officers’ team was defeated by two runs and was bowled out.

As in the last year’s match, the bureaucrats reportedly played in a manner that made victory easy for the Chief Minister’s team.
“We don’t dare defeat the Chief Minister as we need good postings,” a young IAS officer was quoted as saying by the New Indian Express.

Rescheduled to be played on Sunday afternoon, the match had to start without the team's captain. Akhilesh could only reach the Le Martiniere cricket grounds after 3.30pm.
Seen in the stands, watching and admiring Akhilesh smashing the ball around the park, were wife Dimple Yadav and their children Aditi and Arjun.
