With few hundred seats left to go to polls, the political discourse in the country is certainly going downhill.
Party leaders from across the spectrum have been using the harshest of words to run down their opponents.
Rediff.com takes a look at some of the comments made recently.
We start off with 'Modi-bhakt' Baba Ramdev, whose remarks about Rahul Gandhi landed him in a soup.
Ramdev said: "He (Rahul) goes to Dalits' house for honeymoon and picnic. Had he married a Dalit girl, then his luck could have clicked and he would have become the prime minister."

Image: Subramanian SwamyBJP leader Subramanian Swamy responding to Abdullah: "Farooq Abdullah has no power to move Modi from here by even an inch. These kind of words are only used by ruffians who roam on the roadside. Now, they (the National Conference and its allies) are afraid because Modi cannot be tied, since he has no bindings. As far as Kashmir is concerned, since the Maharaja (Hari Singh) has signed the instrument of accession with India, it has become an integral part of India. Hence, he can go to some other country if he feels like or take asylum like several Hindus who have done so in United States. Therefore, nobody can separate it."

Priyanka on BJP's ‘Damaad’gate video: "They are running around like baffled rats. I knew that they will repeat their bunch of lies. There is nothing new in it but let them say whatever they want to. I am not afraid of anyone and will continue to speak against their negative, destructive and shameful politics."
