The death toll in Bihar floods rose to 9 on Monday with more than 11 lakh people in nearly 600 villages affected.
Sunil Kumar, an official of the state disaster management department, said that 6 people died in Nalanda district alone.
Kumar said Nalanda, Saharsa and Supaul districts were the worst hit and several rivers were flowing above the danger mark.

He said the flood situation remained grim due to the rising water level of all major rivers in the state.
He said so far 37,000 people have been evacuated from flood hit districts of Saharsa, Supaul, Darbhanga and Gopalganj. “The department has set up 76 relief camps in these districts,” he added.

The government had sounded a high alert as major rivers in north Bihar, especially the Kosi, Gandak, Kamla Balan and Bagmati, are in spate following heavy rains in their catchment areas in Nepal.
12 teams of the National Disaster Response Force and 4 teams of the state disaster response force have been deployed in flood-hit districts.
