Bodies of the Captain of the sunken Oil and Natural Gas Corporation vessel and another crew member, who is yet to be identified, were found near Daman, taking the toll to six, a senior Coast Guard official said in Mumbai.
"Two bodies have been recovered near Daman, in Gujarat since Friday night. One of the bodies was that of Captain Gurbachan Singh. The second body could not be identified yet as it was in a mutilated condition. We were informed about it by ONGC," Chief Staff Officer (Operations) Commandant Kalpit Dikshit told PTI.
The bodies were sighted by villagers. While the Captain's body was found stuck between rocks on Friday night, the other one was spotted near the beach on Saturday morning.
"Now the search is on to locate the remaining two missing crew. With the number of bodies recovered increasing to six, chances of any survivors among the two missing crew now appears extremely bleak," Dikshit said.
There were 17 people on board when the vessel sunk on Monday. Nine were rescued immediately. The first body of the eight missing crew was found late on Wednesday. Three more were found on Thursday.
