Nitish Kumar said that attempts are being made to murder the democracy in the JNU. “Loktantra ka gala ghontne ki koshish ho rahin hai JNU mein (They are attempting to strangulate democracy in JNU),” Kumar stated.
He said the JNU is a prestigious educational institution in the country and he is proud of it.
There is an old health tradition in JNU of free debate and discussion in a democratic environment, Kumar said
“But attempts are being made to defame and paint the JNU as an anti-national hub; to destroy this prestigious university,” Nitish Kumar said.
He targeted the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance government at the centre by saying that central government is angry unnecessary over the issue.
“The central government is taking action against the JNU students on the direction of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s affiliated student wing Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad. It is dangerous and should be opposed.”
Nitish Kumar said the BJP-led government is trying to create an emergency like situation in the country.
Nitish Kumar said one may disagree with ideology of the Communist Party of India and the Communist Party of India-Marxist but both left parties are nationalist. It is wrong to propagate that the CPI and CPI-M are anti-national.
“The CPI aur CPI-M deshbhakt party hain (The CPI and CPI-M are nationalist parties),” he said.
In a reply to a question, Nitish Kumar said he never described Ishrat Jahan as daughter of Bihar.
