The security of two Pakistani prisoners lodged in a jail in Ambala has been beefed up following the death of Sarabjit in Pakistan.

Two Pakistani prisoners Mohmmad Saleem, who hails from Faisalabad and Masood Akhtar, a resident of Sahiwal in Pakistan, lodged in Ambala central jail are life convicts.

According to sources, both the inmates were shifted to security cell of the jail on Wednesday evening. Security guards have been deployed outside their cell round the clock. They are not allowed to meet the other inmates for security reasons.

A case was registered against Saleem in Baldevnagar police station in Ambala in 2002 while Masood was booked by Ambala Sadar police station in 2003.

During interrogation, they had admitted that they had crossed the border illegally. Police had also found their involvement in spying. Both are lodged in this jail for the last several years.

After the death of Sarabjit following a murderous attack on him in a Lahore jail last week, the Union government has directed the jail authorities to tighten the security of Pakistani inmates, the sources said.

Meanwhile, All India Anti Terrorist Front burnt the effigy of Pakistan’s President and raised slogans against the Pakistan government.
