A group of Muslim religious leaders on Monday went to meet Maharashtra Governor S M Krishna to protest the presence of Booker award winning author Salman Rushdie in the city.
The delegation demanded that the author should not be allowed to stay in the city.
However, since the Governor was out of town to attend a family function, the delegation submitted their demand to his secretariat.
Rushdie, who faced flak from Muslim leaders across the world for his 1988 book Satanic Verses, is presently in the city and staying at the residence of industrialist Adi Godrej in suburban Juhu.
The author is reportedly here to participate in an AIDS awareness drive organised by Godrej's wife, Parmeshwar.
A group of people had protested against Rushdie, outside the Godrej residence, on Sunday.
