Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday sought to link the spate of terror attacks in Sopore area with Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar's alleged remark about revival of 'Ikhwanis', an outfit of reformed militants in the state.
Omar also alleged that it was the "RSS agenda" to evict Muslims from the Jammu region of the state.
"The defence minister says that militants will be used for killing militants here. What does it mean? That they will give a rebirth to Ikhwaan (government-sponsored gunmen). Since his (Parrikar's) statement came, see the situation in Sopore. Someone is being killed there regularly. This is because of this government," Omar said addressing a rally in Srinagar.
Omar took out a massive rally against the PDP-BJP government.
The National Conference Working President alleged that the state government was working on the agenda of RSS.
"I had not lent my support (to PDP) because I was power hungry. I had power for six years and was ready to sit in the opposition. But I was worried that the you (chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed) wanted to join your hands... the RSS would prove to be a deadly poison for the state. And it is really getting proved today.
"These days various orders are being given. Many have indulged in looting of forest produce. It has happened in Kashmir, Ladakh, Kargil and Jammu as well. But when you start an inquiry, you take the names of only a few areas in Jammu. Why? You know it fully. It is only RSS agenda to evict Muslims from there. This is their politics," Omar said adding "we will not let this to succeed".
He said the decisions of the state government were taken at Nagpur -- an apparent reference to RSS headquarters.
"In our time the state had two capitals-- Jammu and Srinagar-- but now it has one only -- Nagpur. No decision is taken here. They are taken in Nagpur first. Have the people given 28 seats to Sayeed for this?" Omar questioned.
Taking another swipe at Sayeed, Omar said the chief minister seems to believe that Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan was the solution to every problem in the state.
"We (Omar government) had brought tourists here. Sayeed made a flood announcement and tourism wound up from the state. There is no one staying in hotels or shikaras. No one is coming here but Sayeed went to Mumbai to get Shahrukh Khan here. He seems to think that Khan is the solution to every problem here.
"Had it really been that, I would have myself said that Khan should be made the chief minister of this state. What is the benefit of Sayeed then?" he asked.
A spate of attacks on mobile towers in Sopore led to the death of two persons and three others injured. 177 towers were shut down in the wake of the attacks by militants.
The NC leader took a dig at the chief minister saying Sayeed talked about getting India and Pakistan together in 2002 when he was in power and even in his common minimum programme, but the countries were talking about bombing these days.
"Where has the Sayeed of 2002 gone? He used to say that he made India and Pakistan to come together and open Muzaffarabad route.
"If you did it then, please say something today. Today we are seeing that there is a talk of bombing going on, is it too because of you? If you could get them (India and Pakistan) together that time, where has your magic gone this time? Where has that Sayeed gone who used to talk about healing touch? This time he does not even talk," Omar said.
The former chief minister said his party was forced to take to the streets as the state as well as the central government had not kept the promises made to the people of the state.
"We were forced today. We put an end to our silence. We took to the streets to remind the Prime Minister (Narendra Modi) that he has not kept his promise. He had made a promise with the people of the state and he has to keep that.
"The prime minister came here with a bulging chest. I clearly remember what he said. He said the Centre was ready to provide any help to the state. He also said that he wanted to assure the brothers and sisters in the other part of Kashmir across the LoC that the Centre will help them as well. Thank God that they did not wait for our help, otherwise their situation would have been as same as the people here," Omar said.
He said that the 100 days of the coalition government had proved to be "hollow".
"These 100 days have proved to be hollow. They haven't done any developmental works worth even a penny. We were forced to tell him what he (Sayeed) did not do. We did not seek any magic from you. We had not hoped that you will macadamise the roads in the matter of days. But we had hoped that you will start implementing the promises which you made during the elections.
"We will not allow Sayeed to backtrack from his promises. We will keep him on his toes to deliver relief to the flood -affected people and that too in the same manner as we had proposed," Omar said.
He accused Sayeed of trying to "bury" NC.
"He has always used the power to get rid of National Conference. He is still continuing with it. He does not sign any files regarding development or giving jobs to people, but signs all files to take away the security of NC workers. He wants to use pen and ink-pot (a reference to PDP symbol) to bury alive the NC. But today you have shown him (Sayeed) that NC is not ready to be buried," he said.
The NC working president asked the workers to strengthen the party and support the voice of the people.
