RJD MLAs to cast first preferential vote for Pranab

The Rashtriya Janata Dal Legislature Party met in Patna on Wednesday evening and decided that its 22 MLAs would cast first preferential vote to for United Progressive Alliance Presidential candidate Pranab Mukherjee in the polls on Thursday.

Talking to reporters after the meeting, which was presided over by RJD leader Rabri Devi, Leader of Opposition in the state assembly Abdul Bari Siddiqui said the the MLAs were asked not to give their second preference vote to any other candidate.

Excepting for Ramanand Yadav and Lalit Yadav, a total 20 MLAs of the party attended the meeting.

Siddiqui said the two MLAs did not attend the meeting as they were away with prior permission.

He also appealed to all the political parties to ensure victory for Mukherjee.
