Utsav Sharma, who inflicted grievous wounds on murdered teenager Aarushi's father Rajesh Talwar, was on Wednesday remanded in judicial custody till February 8 by a local court in Ghaziabad.

Sharma, who had in February last year attacked Haryana DGP SPS Rathore, convicted in the Ruchika molestation case, outside a Panchkula court, was produced before judge Preeti Singh in the morning.

"He has been remanded in judicial custody till February 8," a senior police official. 30-year-old Sharma, a graduate from the prestigious National Institute of Design,

Ahmedabad, has been charged with attempt to murder.

54-year-old Talwar was attacked by Sharma with a cleaver, causing deep cuts on his face and hands as he came out of the court here after filing a petition before Singh challenging CBI's closure report in the Aarushi-Hemraj twin murder case and demanding a fresh probe.

Talwar, who was first rushed to a nearby hospital, was later shifted to Apollo Hospital in Delhi where doctors have described his condition as stable.

Sources said Sharma told the police that he was upset with the slow progress in the Aarushi case.
