A high-level police team on Monday interrogated late Bharatiya Janata Party leader Pramod Mahajan's son Rahul following alleged drug abuse.

Rahul was hospitalised in the wee hours of Friday after a suspected drug overdose.

The interrogation comes after the hospital authorities declared Rahul 'fit' to give a statement.

The team, led by Mandir Marg Station House Officer Ram Kishen, armed with video cameras reached the hospital.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Suman Nalwa and Tughlak Road Station House Officer Madanjit Singh later joined the team. After a round of informal questioning, Rahul, who was moved out of the intensive care unit, was quizzed in detail.

Hospital sources said Rahul was being initially questioned inside the ICU itself after doctors said he was fit to give a statement. The police, after summoning the doctors of Apollo hospital to Tughlak Road, questioned them about various aspects of the case including the delay in informing the police about admission of Rahul in the hospital and his medical reports.

A close aide of Pramod Mahajan, Harish Sharma, was also interrogated for the second day as the police set out to establish the sequence of events on Thursday night.

The police also grilled Sahil Zaroo with three other persons -- Karan, Tishay and Rahul Malhotra -- who were also present during the small gathering, to ascertain what actually transpired during the party.
