Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi, who was scheduled to undertake a two-day tour of his parliamentary constituency Amethi on Tuesday, postponed his visit due to bad weather conditions.
Gandhi will now undertake a two-day visit to Amethi from Thursday. It will be his first visit to his constituency after taking over as the Congress vice president.
"Rahulji was scheduled to undertake a two-day visit to Amethi on February 5-6. He had reached the Delhi airport, but due to the bad weather conditions he cancelled his visit following the pilots' suggestion. Rahulji will now undertake a two-day visit to Amethi on February 7-8, and he has expressed his regret to the people of this region for the inconvenience," said Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee spokesperson Akhilesh Pratap Singh.

The Congress vice president will not address any public rallies during his Amethi visit but is expected to hold closed-door meetings in an endeavour to concentrate on mass scale restructuring of the party cadre.
The visit will follow Gandhi's extensive deliberations with Congress office bearers on the organisational functioning of the party.
Gandhi had campaigned aggressively in Uttar Pradesh during the state assembly polls, but his party did not perform up to expectations and was relegated to the fourth position, winning only 26 out of 403 seats.
The Congress vice president has now increased the frequency of his visits to his constituency following the party's dismal show in the Uttar Pradesh assembly polls.
