Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi turned saviour for a hit-and-run victim in the national capital on Tuesday.
In the morning, Gandhi was going past Krishna Menon Marg in New Delhi, a few metres from the residence of former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, when he spotted a person hurt in a road accident lying on the road. He immediately stopped his car to help the victim and ensured that he was rushed to the nearby All India Institute of Medical Sciences for treatment.
Speaking to rediff.com, 39-year-old Janesh Badhiya, an eyewitness, said that he was trying to help the injured person who had fallen off his motorbike after a vehicle hit him when Gandhi came up and give him a hand.
"While I was helping the injured, whose name I do not know, Rahul Gandhi's cavalcade was passing by. He stopped and came out of his car and the two of us carried the injured person to one of the vehicles in the convoy. He asked his security personnel to rush the injured person to AIIMS for medical attention. He asked me to take care of the bike and belongings of the injured person till the police arrived," Badhiya said.
