Preliminary investigations into the Israeli embassy car blast in New Delhi, which left four including a diplomat injured on Monday, show that pro-Palestine groups could be behind the attack.

However, an officer involved in the probe said that it would be to early to comment on those responsible for the blast. There is a lot of data that is being collected regarding the role played by pro-Palestine groups. Meanwhile, Indian intelligence agencies are also sharing intelligence with their counterparts in Israel.

Sources in the Intelligence Bureau point out that there are many such units spread across the country comprising
Palestinians and Iranians. They have been maintaining a low profile and there have been no proper intelligence inputs to point out that they have been planning operations on Indian soil.

There are many organisations in India that have been openly voicing their concern for Palestine while terming operations by Israelis a crime. Even homegrown terror group Indian Mujahideen has in several of its emails spoken about Palestine and how it would target India for its proximity to the United States, which is a natural ally of Israel, say sources.

Pro-Palestine groups have their base in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh in north India and Kerala in south India. Police sources say that such organisations do not find it difficult to operate within India as they receive support from local terror modules.

The Israeli community in India has always been asked to be on its guard and its citizens have been more alert after they were targeted during the 26/11 attacks.
