Pranab Mukherjee the President in waiting dodged all questions pertaining to politics and said 'I am no longer a minister'. He was in Bangalore to interact with the electoral college seeking support for his candidature as President of India.

When asked about the weak rupee and the economy, he said, "I am no longer the finance minister and hence I cannot comment on any issue."

Pranab was, however, hopeful and stated that almost all political parties have endorsed his candidature. "Former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda too has supported me. I am confident that all parties will support me. I would also appeal to all parties that have still not made a decision, to support me. That includes Mamata Banerjee too," he said in Bangalore.
