Filmmaker-turned-politician Prakash Jha is set to contest the Lok Sabha polls from the Bettiah parliamentary seat in Bihar as a Janata Dal-United nominee.
Jha gave the indication while addressing a public meeting at Bettiah on Thursday along with Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar during his Sankalp Yatra. "Jha’s name for Bettaih seat has been finalised by the party and it will be announced soon,” a JD-U
leader said.
Jha had taken part in a protest against the denial of the special status category to Bihar on March 2 in Patna with Kumar. Impressed by Kumar's demand for the special status to Bihar, Jha has announced to make a film on the subject. According to JD-U leaders, Jha has been visiting Bettiah regularly for last over a month.
In the last Lok Sabha polls in 2009, Jha had contested as a Lok Janshakti Party nominee, but was defeated.
