A teenage student was killed in Hyderabad on Tuesday when she was run over by a bus after she fell from a two-wheeler which got stuck in a pothole-ridden road near Anand Theatre at Begumpet, police said.

Riya G, 17, who was travelling pillion with her friend on Tuesday, slipped from the vehicle and came under the wheels of the bus that was coming from behind, resulting in her death.

Her friend escaped with injuries.

Riya, who had gone to attend a coaching class at Begumpet, was coming towards Secunderabad when the mishap occurred.

Vishal, who was driving the vehicle, lost control over it when its front tyre got stuck in the pot-holed road.

The bus hit the two-wheeler from the rear. The duo fell from the two-wheeler and Riya came under its wheel, police said.

Ramgopalpet Police Inspector A Ganga Reddy on Wednesday said they have arrested the bus driver in connection with the incident.
