Poonam Mahajan declares Rs 12 crore worth assets

Slain Bharatiya Janata Party leader Pramod Mahajan's daughter Poonam, who is contesting the October 13 Maharashtra assembly polls from suburban Ghatkopar, owns assets worth Rs 12 crore.

Her assets include Rs 4.40-crore immovable and Rs 7.68-crore movable property, according to the affidavit submitted by her before election authorities in Mumbai while filing the nomination papers. The affidavit also said that she is a matriculate.

Gangster-turned-Member of Legislative Assembly Arun Gawli, 57, who filed his nomination papers for the election on Tuesday, has declared assets worth Rs 3.77 crore.

Gawli, a sitting MLA from Byculla in central Mumbai, has studied up to Std X1 and has 11 pending cases against him, with two convictions that have been set aside by higher courts.

Deepak Nikalje, brother of underworld don Chhota Rajan, is contesting from Chembur seat. Nikalje is SSC pass (Class X) with assets worth Rs 3.60 crore, which include two plots in Chembur and land in Satara in western Maharashtra. He has eight cases pending against him, and owns three vehicles, according to the affidavit filed by him.
