Prime Minister Manmohan Singh arrived in Moscow on Sunday on a three-day visit to attend the commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the victory of allied forces over Nazi Germany in World War II.

He was received at the airport by senior Russian Foreign Ministry officials and India's Ambassador to Russia Kanwal Sibal.

Singh will hold talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday. Defence and energy security cooperation are expected to figure prominently in talks.

This would be the second meeting between them since the Russian leader had visited Delhi last December.

Singh would be among the very few, including US President George W Bush and Chinese President Hu Jintao, with whom Putin will have one-to-one meetings.

Joined by Bush and 55 world leaders, the Prime Minister's participation in the celebrations to commemorate 6th anniversary of the end of the World War II is seen as a tribute to sacrifices made by the Russian people in the war which claimed the lives of 27 million Soviet citizens and symbolic of Indo-Russian strategic partnership.
