A high-level meeting, attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Saturday discussed ways to make the Somnath temple complex in Gujarat more attractive for tourists and create the related infrastructure for the purpose.

The deliberations took place at a meeting of the Somnath Trust here which was also attended by Chairman of the Trust Keshubhai Patel and the other trustees -- senior BJP leader L K Advani, P K Lahiri, Harshvardhan Neotia and J D Parmar.

"The trustees discussed ways and means to make the Somnath complex even more attractive for tourists. They discussed the town infrastructure, keeping in view the increase in the number of tourists," a PMO statement said.

Ongoing projects of the Trust were also discussed, it added.

The temple is built on the shore of the Arabian Sea and pilgrimage to this shrine is one of the oldest.

The trustees nominated Keshubhai Patel as Chairman of the Trust for one more year.
