Let's take a look at the winners and the best shortlisted entries which met the jury's mantra -- Push past the obvious and see the inspiration around you.
A day on the beach, 1st Prize
Image: This image was taken in Sicily. I am working on a project called 'A day on the beach', a documentary project focused on the life on the Sicilian beaches during the crowded months of summer. The project began on 2013 and in 2014 (after I bought a new mobile phone). I took some photos for this project even with my mobile phone. The shot was taken at the end of July 2014. Nyugati, 2nd Prize

A man is watching the timetable at the deserted platform of Nyugati Station right after the departure of the train carrying the Hungarian fans to the Romania-Hungary football match in Bucharest. The sunset is seen through the smoke of the firecrackers exploded by the fans. Photograph: Janos M Schmidt, 2nd place -- Mobile Phone/2015 Sony World Photography Awards

On the edge
Image: Known as the Pulpit Rock or Preacher's Pulpit, Preikestolen in Norway is one of the most visited natural tourist attractions in the country. Preikestolen is a massive cliff 604 metres above Lysefjorden and is reached walking a path starting at Preikestolhytta, at an elevation of approximately 270 metres above sea level. Due to the popularity of Preikestolen during the summer months we decided to go as soon as the snow was gone. At this time of the year it can be icy at some places and the weather can change from sun, to rain and snow very quickly. Shift of weather was exactly what happened but eventually we reached the plateau, and it offers the reward of a spectacular view of the Norwegian fjords. Bridge disappearing into the fog
Image: The image is of the Clifton Suspension Bridge in Bristol. I always pay it a visit if I'm out for a walk. Although the fog was really heavy, I was really lucky that half of the bridge was still visible. I thought that Bristol looked a little Dickensian and a bit spooky in the fog, and I really wanted to capture that in the shot. For that reason I made sure the cars and people were out of the way before I took the picture. An interesting fact is that a few minutes later, the fog had lifted, so I was really pleased that I was able to capture and share the pic before the view changed for good! Communications
Image: The picture Communications was taken on a sunny day in a pub in Elephant and Castle, London. I wasn't looking for a photograph but the photograph found me. I saw this man looking at me behind the glass window and I noticed so many beautiful reflections going on everywhere. I saw that everything was moving fast and tried to capture this fast pace of the city, so I made a couple of shots and when I was happy with this one I went back to drink my pint. Catch
Image: It was taken in November 2014, when I had a trip to Istanbul with my friends. Ferryboats is very popular type of transport to get to some districts. We used to get to Kadiköy by ferry, because it's famous for the best fish restaurants in Istanbul. Lots of seagulls always follow the boats and people feed them with bread. I love watching seagulls so I took lots of photos with my iPhone to catch interesting moment. This one is my favourite -- birds are catching the piece of bread.
