The coronavirus pandemic has spread to 146 countries with the worldwide death toll from the virus surpassing the 7,000 mark on Monday.

Among the more than 1,73,000 cases recorded globally are government officials, celebrities and sports personalities as authorities around the world grapple to contain the spread of coronavirus.

Hollywood actor Tom Hanks and his wife, actress and singer Rita Wilson, British actor Idris Elba, and Sophie Trudeau, wife of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, are some of the most well-known faces to be infected so far.

Who are some of the others affected?

Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, the Canadian PM Justin Trudeau's wife, tested positive a few days ago for the deadly disease. Grégoire Trudeau has mild symptoms and is feeling well, and will remain in isolation for 14 days, said the Canadian PM's office. British actor Idris Elba on Monday revealed he had tested positive. "I feel ok, I have no symptoms so far. No panic," he said in a tweet. He was tested because he was "exposed" to someone who had tested positive, he said. He has been self-isolating since Friday. "We live in a divided world, we all feel it...now's the time for solidarity," he added. Photograph: Andrew Kelly/Reuters

Olga Kurylenko, the Ukrainian-born actress who’s perhaps best known for her role in 2008’s Quantum of Solace, revealed that she has tested positive for the coronavirus. Writing about her diagnosis on Instagram, Kurylenko said she’s symptomatic and self-quarantining. “Locked up at home after having tested positive for coronavirus,” she explained. “I’ve actually been ill for almost a week now. Fever and fatigue are my main symptoms. Take care of yourself and do take this seriously!”. Photograph: Gareth Cattermole/Getty Images

'Game of Thrones' actor Kristofer Hivju, who played Tormund Giantsbane on the show, on Monday shared the news that he had also been tested positive for coronavirus. In his Instagram post, he wrote, "Greetings from Norway! Sorry to say that I, today, have tested positive for COVID19, Corona virus. My family and I are self-isolating at home for as long as it takes. We are in good health – I only have mild symptoms of a cold. There are people at higher risk for who this virus might be a devastating diagnosis, so I urge all of you to be extremely careful; wash your hands, keep 1.5 metres distance from others, go in quarantine; just do everything you can to stop the virus from spreading. Together we can fight this virus and avert a crisis at our hospitals.” Photograph: Rich Polk/Getty Images

Rudy Gobert of the Utah Jazz became the first NBA player to be diagnosed with novel coronavirus. The Utah Jazz All-Star center said he's been feeling a "little better every single day." "I wish I would have taken this thing more seriously and I hope everyone else will do so because we can do it together," Gobert said. Gobert was recently criticised for a prank he pulled on members of the media that could have put them at risk of contracting the illness. As Gobert was leaving a media event on March 9, before he was diagnosed with coronavirus, he touched every microphone and recorder in front of him in jest. After his diagnosis, Gobert issued a public apology on Instagram. Photograph: Chris Graythen/Getty Images

Sampdoria forward Manolo Gabbiadini tested positive for the coronavirus. The former Southhampton player becomes the second player in Serie A to test positive for the disease, after Juventus announced on Wednesday that defender Daniele Rugani had contracted the virus. Gabbiadini has also played for Juventus, Napoli and Atalanta. He left Southampton to return to former team Sampdoria in January 2019. Photograph: Daniele Mascolo/Reuters

Actor Daniel Dae Kim, best known for the television series Hawaii 5-0 and Lost, has tested positive for the coronavirus. Kim, speaking from his home in Hawaii, announced the news in an Instagram posting and video. "Yesterday I was diagnosed with COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus. Looks like I’ll be ok, but I wanted share my journey with you in the hopes that you find it informative or helpful. Hope you all stay safe, calm, and above all," Kim wrote. The status of the ruler's health "is not worrying at all," the palace added in a statement. Prince Albert was tested for Covid-19 earlier this week. The 62-year-old is continuing to work from the office in his private apartments and remains in contact with members of his cabinet and government.
