Insurgent outfit People's Liberation Army on Wednesday claimed responsibility for the bomb attacks on two army establishments in Manipur.
The attacks were carried out on Tuesday by a team of the 'special warfare group' of the PLA, the armed wing of the Revolutionary People's Front, said a PLA statement signed by its publicity chief Taohangsu Heiremcha.
Two powerful bombs had exploded -- one in the office complex of the 'M Sector' (army office) adjoining Manipur Raj Bhavan in Imphal and another at the gate of the post of Gorkha Rifles -- at Khwairakpam area in Bishenpur district on Tuesday
A powerful bomb weighing three kg was also unearthed at Moidangpok area by a security patrol party in Imphal west district on Tuesday
The PLA said it had planted the bomb to attack security personnel.
Sources said all security and police posts in the state, particularly in the four valley districts of Imphal East, Imphal West, Thoubal and Bishenpur, have been put on alert following a series of bomb attacks by the PLA on security personnel in September.
