PC arrives in Kashmir to review security arrangement

Union Home Minister P Chidambaram arrived in Srinagar on Monday afternoon on a two-day visit to Kashmir Valley to review the overall security situation in the state and arrangements made for the annual Amarnath yatra.

Chidambaram was received at the airport by Jammu and Kashmir Education Minister Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed, Minister of State for Home Nasir Aslam Wani, senior civil and police officers.

The home minister after his arrival drove to Raj Bhavan where he met the state governor N N Vohra. He will spend the night at the Raj Bhavan.

The home minister is scheduled to review the overall situation in the state with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, senior civil, police, army, intelligence and paramilitary officers.

He will also visit the south Kashmir's health resort of Pahalgam on Tuesday to review the security arrangements made for this year's annual Amarnath cave shrine yatra.
