Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh on Monday directed the newly inducted Union Ministers to pay courtesy calls on Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar and Chairman of the Rajya Sabha Hamid Ansari.

Prime Minster mentioned that though it is a practice, such a meeting will his allow the ministers to get acquainted with the presiding officers. During Parliament session such visits would ensure better relationship between the treasury bench and the presiding officers.

It is Dr Hamid Ansari who always mentioned in his lectures that Union ministers are accountable to the Parliament and their presence during question hours was a must.
