Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee announced in the House today that it has been unanimously agreed at the meeting of leaders of various political parties that the session be curtailed by three days, cancelling the sittings from August 28 to 30.
However, he said it was agreed in the meeting that Parliament will sit till 2000 hours from August 1 to 18.
The Speaker said some requests had been received for curtailing the session.
With the 10-day Ganesh festival starting on August 27, MPs from Maharashtra had met Parliamentary Affairs Minister P R Dasmunshi and stressed the need for them to be in their constituencies during the festival.
