Amit Shah played the fear card in the ongoing Bihar polls when he claimed that Pakistan will celebrate by bursting crackers were the BJP to lose the assembly elections. M I Khan/ Rediff.com reports from Patna.

In a bid to play communal card ahead of fourth phase polls, Bharatiya Janata Party president Amit Shah on Thursday said that fire-crackers will burst in Pakistan if the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance did not form the next government in Bihar and Nitish Kumar-Lalu Prasad led grand alliance will win in the Bihar assembly polls.

Agar Lalu aur Nitish Kumar ki sarkar banti hai to Pakistan mein patakha footenge (If Lalu-Nitish Kumar will form the government in Bihar, celebratory fire crackers will burst in Pakistan),” Amit Shah said while addressing an election rally in Raxaul in Bihar.

Amit Shah also said fire-crackers will burst in Pakistan if the BJP will not be able to form the government in Bihar.

“There is a wave in favour of the BJP in Bihar at present but in case the BJP will not come to power, there will be a celebration and joy in Pakistan. There will be a Diwali like celebration in Pakistan,” he said.

Ruling Janata Dal-United spokesperson Nawak Sharma said that though Amit Shah has played a communal card, he also predicted the BJP’s defeat in the Bihar assembly polls.

Senior JD-U leader K C Tayagi condemned Amit Shah's statement and said that the party will complaint to the election commission about it on Friday.

Amit Shah further said that jailed criminal turned politician Mohammad Shahabuddin will be benefited most if Nitish Kumar and Lalu Prasad led government will come to power in Bihar.

Shahabuddin, a former MP, is currently lodged in central Bhagalpur jail.

“Now the time has come for people to get rid of the jungle raj,” Amit Shah said.

He said that the BJP-led NDA will establish a government committed to development only. “Only the BJP can develop Bihar,” he said.
