The Pakistan army violated the bilateral ceasefire in the Bhimber Galli sector of the Rajouri district, Jammu and Kashmir on Friday night, according to a defence spokesman.

The spokesman said, “The Pakistan army carried out unprovoked firing using small arms and automatic weapons. Our wwn troops gave a befitting reply using weapons of similar calibre.” He said that there was no damage and no casualties have been reported.

This is the second ceasefire violation in this week. The Pakistan army had on August 5 violated the ceasefire on the Line of Control in the Poonch sector.

Early this week, the Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said, “Ceasefire violations by Pakistan on the Line of Control were a matter of serious concern.”

“I will take up the matter with Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Ladakh later this month. We have already taken up the issue with the centre. I will discuss the issue with him," Omar had told newsmen in Sringar.

The chief minister said it was “the endeavour of his government to ensure that the ceasefire violations do not have much impact on the people living near the Line of Control.”
