The Pakistan army violated the bilateral ceasefire on the Line of Control in the Poonch district of Jammu region on Tuesday morning.
A defence spokesman said the Pakistan army opened fire at the Indian posts in the Bhimber Gali sector of the LoC early this morning.
"The Pakistan army used small arms and automatics weapons," he said.
“There was effective retaliation by our troops with matching calibre weapons, triggering exchanges which ended at 7 am. No casualties or damage has been reported,” he added.
A junior commissioned officer of the Indian Army was killed in Pakistan army firing in the Uri sector of north Kashmir Baramulla district on Monday.
Meanwhile a flag meeting is scheduled in the R S Pura sector of the International Border between the paramilitary, Border Security Force and Pakistan Rangers, according to officials.
This is the first flag meeting after the recent exchange of heavy firing on the international border in the twin district of Jammu and Samba.
There have been nearly 150 ceasefire violations by Pakistani troops along the Indo-Pak border in Jammu and Kashmir this year, the highest in the past 8 years.
