The opposition has been demanding that all the documents relating to the Kargil purchases be tabled in the House and a full discussion be allowed on the issue.
The opposition kept up pressure on the government in Parliament for the second day in Friday over denial of CVC report on Kargil arms purchases to Public Accounts Committee, forcing adjournment of the Rajya Sabha and stalling proceedings in the Lok Sabha.
While the Rajya Sabha was adjourned for the day amid uproarious scenes, Congress members stormed the well in the Lok Sabha soon after the House passed two Constitution amendment bills raising anti-government slogans.
As the Lok Sabha was about to take up a discussion on atrocities on Dalits, Congress chief whip P R Dasmunsi alleged that through the electronic media the ruling party was arraigning the PAC and the Government was keeping quiet over it. This should be stopped forthwith, he demanded.
The opposition has been demanding that all the documents relating to the Kargil purchases be tabled in the House and a full discussion be allowed on the issue.
Speaker Manohar Joshi's plea to the members to resume their seats to enable the House to debate the Dalit issue went unheeded as the Congress members shouted "PAC lachar hain, ghotala ki sarkar hain (PAC is helpless, it is a government of scams)".
In the din, the Speaker adjourned the House till 1400 hours.
In the Rajya Sabha, Suresh Pachouri (Congress), quoting a CAG report, said that of the total Rs 2,163 crore spent on purchases for Operation Vijay, Rs 2,150 worth of purchases were procured after the war in Kargil was over.
The report also observed that ammunition worth Rs 90 crore were not of desired quality, the member said.
Chairman Bhairon Singh Shekhawat said if the members so wanted they could start discussion on the subject right away.
But Shekhawat's assurance failed to pacify the opposition, leading to its adjournment for the day within 30 minutes of the morning session.
