With government refusing to yield to the demand for JPC probe into 2G spectrum issue, the National Democratic Alliance on Friday announced that it will take its "fight against corruption" to the streets and will stage a rally in New Delhi on December 22 along with other Opposition parties.
Addressing a press conference in the Parliament complex on Friday, Janata Dal President Sharad Yadav said it was becoming increasingly difficult to understand why the government of India was running away from ordering a Joint Parliamentary Probe into the 2G spectrum scam.Yadav announced that members of the Opposition parties will sit on a dharna on Monday morning at 11 am to press the government for setting
up a JPC probe.
"If the government does not do so, we would take the matter of the people on India. On December 22, Opposition parties would hold a rally at the Ram Lila grounds in New Delhi and protest against the government's refusal to accept a JPC," Yadav added.
Speaking on behalf of the Opposition parties, Yadav rejected the government's offer to have to matter examined by a retired judge of the Supreme Court.
"This announcement was made outside Parliament while the two Houses are still in session. The executive is accountable to Parliament. We can summon anyone we like to question. The government's announcement is merely to divert the attention of the people of the country from the main issue," he charged.
