President A P J Abdul Kalam will spend his 73rd birthday on October 15 in Karnataka and Gujarat, where he will attend a series of functions before returning to New Delhi late at night.
According to Rashtrapati Bhavan sources, Kalam will fly to Bangalore on October 14 and spend the night in Raj Bhavan.

He will attend a function in Suttur Muth in Mysore, which runs school for orphans, the next day.
"The President will meet 800-900 students and spend about forty-five minutes with them," S M Khan, his press secretary, told rediff.com
From there the presidential entourage will head for Belguam, where Kalam will participate in a workshop organised by the Defence Research and Development Organisation.
The workshop will discuss how to provide light artificial limbs to children.
Kalam will reach Ahmedabad late in the evening to take part in the international energy conference being organised by the Ministry of Energy in coordination with the Gujarat government.
Thereafter he will address an international seminar on tourism before returning New Delhi at around midnight.
Last year also the President was in Gujarat on his birthday.
