A 26-year-old youth was on Friday electrocuted and two others critically injured after they came in contact with a live wire at a base camp en route to the Amarnath cave shrine of Amarnath, the police has said.

A group of 'sevadars (helper)' accidentally came in contact with a live electricity wire at base camp Baltal in central Kashmir's Ganderbal district, resulting in on-the-spot death of one of them, they said.

The deceased has been identified as Souce Chand, a resident of Punjab working for Sevadar Sewamandal Budlada.

Two other 'sevadars' were critically injured in the accident and were shifted to Soura Medical Institute here for specialised treatment, police said.
