Ramona Trinidad Iglesias Jordan, the world's oldest person and the last human being on earth born in the year 1889, has died after a bout of pneumonia.
She was 114 years and 272 days old.
She died early on Saturday in a nursing home in Rio Piedras, a suburb of San Juan, Puerto Rico, according to her relatives.
Iglesias earned the distinction in April when Guinness World Records declared her the world's oldest living woman. It also lists Fred Hale Sr, 113, of Syracuse, New York, as the oldest man.
Her death could leave 113-year-old Hendrikje van Andel-Schipper of the Netherlands as the oldest living woman.
