United States First Lady Michelle Obama, who is accompanying her husband Barack during his three-day visit to India, interacted with underprivileged children enrolled in the academic programme of Make A Difference, a NGO founded by two young social entrepreneurs who mobilise youth to serve as mentors and teachers for the less fortunate.
Tanmay Arora, one of the co-founders of MAD, said, "She was extremely happy. She spoke to us about how an endeavour by the youth is important."
She also expressed her appreciation for the quality of education offered by MAD to the children, said Roy.
Describing how Michelle spent her afternoon, he said, "She played games with the kids. She also wanted to see how they are being taught. She even danced twice with the kids to the tunes of Rang De Basanti and played drums with them."
He was also touched by the humbleness of the First Lady of the United States "She took off her sandals to play with the kids. She hugged them and gave them high-fives," Arora said.
So what did Michelle tell the children? "She shared her own childhood experiences with kid. She told us that she came from a humble background, but she received an education that made her what she is today," said Arora.
