Some of the American security officials, who arrived in Mumbai days before US President Barack Obama's visit and checked into Taj Mahal hotel, had to spend "sleepless nights" for a few days not because of security reasons but due to continuous honking of vehicles plying on the roads.

Days before Obama's arrival, some of the security officials had landed in the city and checked into Taj Mahal hotel in south Mumbai. They held a series of meetings with city police to chalk out security plans. "Some security men complained to us that they could not get a proper sleep in their rooms during the nights as well day time due to continuous honking on the roads that are very close to Taj. During casual talks, they told us they were getting

disturbed by the vehicles honking," a police official said.

However, after Mumbai police's decision to close the eleven roads on November 6 and 7 for security reasons for the high profile visit, they heaved a sign of relief. "Though the decision with regards to the closure of eleven roads around Taj was purely for the security reasons, it brought a smile on their faces as they could have had better sleep," the official added.

The US officials had booked entire Taj hotel, where Obama had put up during his two day visit to the city. All the roads connecting the hotel were closed for two days and entire area was cordoned off. Except residents living in buildings near Taj hotel, no other person was allowed to roam on the resticted roads.
