Krishna Prasad Ram was attacked by his wife's relatives, who abducted her and assaulted their six-month-old baby.
More than 48 hours after Ram's wife Khushboo (22) was abducted, police have failed to trace her.
"Police officials are at work to rescue her, but so far there is no trace of her," Motihari
Superintendent of Police Ganesh Kumar said.
A police official of Motihari town police told rediff.com over telephone on Friday that the case could have been one of honour killing.
"Though police have neither been able to rescue her or recover her body, police
strongly fear that it may end up as another honour killing case," the official
said.
Ram along with his wife Khushboo and child arrived at the Motihari railway station by the Jan Nayar Express from New Delhi and spent the night on the platform. He was stabbed with a knife and his wife was abducted by some motorcyclists, the police said.
He was later beaten up by Khushboo's relatives.
An FIR had been lodged at the police station against Khusboo's uncle Manoj Singh and father Ranvijay.
Kumar said that the police raided the house of accused, but they were absconding.
Earlier, Khushboo's father had complaint against Ram for kidnapping his daughter.
"The matter is still pending with the police," he said.
Ram and his wife had come to Motihari to appear in the court in connection with the kidnapping case.
Police said that Ram had married Khushboo in the local court after they were opposed by her family in Gaunahi village a year ago. Ram is also hails from the same village.
