Naxals abduct village head in Maharashtra

Naxals have abducted a village sarpanch in eastern Maharashtra, the police said.

Ghanshyam Poretti, sarpanch of Istari village in Deori tehsil, was kidnapped by a group of Maoists on Monday night, Deori sub-divisional police officer Shashikant Borate said.

No complaint has been filed in this regard but police have launched a search operation in the region, he said.
