Three days after the daring Maoist attack on Bihar's Jehanabad town, the state police have reportedly identified 15 hardcore activists of the Communist Party of India-Maoist, who along with the members of the People's Guerilla Liberation Army had carried out operation jailbreak in Jehanabad Sunday night.
The police is yet to make any breakthrough and arrest the Maoists involved in the attack despite having launched massive combing operation two days ago.
About 1,000 Maoists armed with a wide variety of weapons swooped on the Jehanabad town and attacked five government landmarks including the police lines and the jail Sunday night.
In the violence that lasted around three hours, a total of 389 prisoners either fled or were freed by the Maoists. These included about 40 activists of the Ranvir Sena militia who were dragged away by the Maoists. The Ranvir Sena is an upper caste group that has been waging a war against Maoists for decades.
The top administration officials and police were tightlipped about any possible breakthrough, but hopeful to make it soon.
However, a top source in police headquarters in Patna told rediff.com that the police have identified 15 hardcore Maoist activists of the CPI-Maoist." "The police have been making hot pursuit to arrest them," officials said.
According to sources, identified Maoist guerillas include two area commanders Shambhu Singh and Binod alias Vidhayak.
