Venkat Barthan new vice chief of naval staff

Vice Admiral Venkat Barthan was named the new vice chief of naval staff on Tuesday.

Barthan, who is at present chief of personnel at the naval headquarters, will take charge from Vice Admiral Yashwant Prasad who retires on August 31.

'We have a long way to go'

Deputy Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral Sureesh Mehta has also been promoted as flag officer commanding-in-chief, eastern naval command, Indian Navy sources said.

Controller of Warship Production, Vice Admiral J S Bedi, has been appointed as the new deputy chief of naval staff succeeding Admiral Sureesh Mehta.
