Infosys co-founder and Unique Identification Authority of India Chairman Nandan Nilekani, tipped to contest from Bangalore South on a Congress ticket, will be officially joining the ruling party on Sunday.

"I'm joining Congress tomorrow....If they give me Bangalore South, I will be happy to take it," he told reporters.

"I'm confident that people will vote for me," he said.

Nilekani will be officially joining Congress at Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee office in the presence of its president G Parameshwara, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and other party leaders, the party said in a statement.

If given a ticket to contest from Bangalore South, Nilekani will have to face incumbent and five-time Member of Parliament from the Constituency, Ananth Kumar of the BJP.
