Ahead of Murli Manohar Joshi's proposed visit to his constituency on April 18, several posters have emerged in the outskirts of the city declaring that the Bharatiya Janata Party member of Parliament has gone 'missing'.

The posters, which also promise a reward on finding him, have been termed as ‘sponsored’ by the Kanpur BJP unit. Describing the poster to be a ploy of rival parties,

BJP's city unit chief Surendra Maithani said an first information report would be filed against the person who pasted the posters once his identity gets revealed.

"Joshi had visited his constituency in February. After that, even though he was busy attending the Budget Session of the Parliament, he stayed informed about his constituency over the phone," Maithani said.

Angry party workers tore more than two dozen posters.

"For the development of this constituency, Joshi has spoken to the Uttar Pradesh chief minister and a number of Union ministers. He has been trying to bring new welfare schemes for the city," Maithani said, adding that such attempts to malign him were wrong.
