Bonito Chhabria, who was detained in Dubai along with three others on drug-related charges, was released on Wednesday after the local police did not find any evidence to nail him.

The son of eminent automobile designer Dilip Chhabria told NDTV: "Basically, I was at the wrong place at the wrong time. There was someone there apparently with drugs or consuming something. When they (authorities in Dubai) searched me, I had nothing. They told us that if your test is negative, we will release you. They have done that test and I was found negative. So, they released me. My mistake is only sharing an apartment with people who may or may not be taking drugs," he added.

Dilip Chhabria told PTI on telephone from Dubai that his son would go to Europe for a week to avoid the media glare. He did not comment on the fate of the others detained along with Bonito. The others are Farhan, son of Samajwadi Party MP Abu Asim Azmi, Shaan Sippy, grandson of film producer G P Sippy and Prashant Dandekar.
