The death toll in Friday's building collapse incident in south Mumbai has gone up to four, with two more persons succumbing to their injuries late in the night.

Earlier on Friday, only two deaths were confirmed.

The deceased have been identified as Ramesh Krishna Bhosale (44) and Jaya Chandra (28), police sources said.

The condition of five of the 17 who sustained injuries after the 80-year-old Palkhiwala building in Fort area collapsed is critical.

The staircase of the building, which was under repairs, developed cracks and caved in at about 0930 IST on Friday.
