Union Minister of Petroleum Dharmendra Pradhan on Monday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will announce a much awaited special package of more than Rs 50,000 crore for Bihar during his visit to the state on Tuesday.

Modi is scheduled to visit Bihar on August 18 to lay the foundation stone of a four lane road in Bhojpur district and will also address a BJP rally in Saharsa district.

Pradhan said that Modi in his address at a rally in Muzaffarpur on July 25 had promised a special package for Bihar.

Modi had then said, ‘When I came before the Lok Sabha elections I had announced that we will give Bihar a special package of Rs 50,000 crore. Looking at our dreams for a prosperous Bihar, we will give a bigger package than Rs 50,000 crore. This is my promise’.

Modi on Tuesday will lay the foundation stone of a four-lane road connecting Patna and Buxar in Ara. Modi has already addressed two election rallies in Muzaffarpur and Gaya ahead of the Bihar assembly polls.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has repeatedly demanded a special category status for Bihar and said anything less won't help in its development.
