Three troopers of the Central Reserve Police Force were injured in two powerful explosions that rocked Srinagar on Tuesday afternoon.

A senior police official told rediff.com, "Militants tossed a hand grenade inside a CRPF camp in Budshah Chowk which exploded, injuring three troopers. They were rushed to the hospital for treatment."

The area has been surrounded by security forces and local shopkeepers have downed their shutters in panic.

"Militants also hurled a grenade at a police camp in Batmallo area of Srinagar which exploded without causing any damage," the police officer said.

Incidentally, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had recently announced the state government's intention of revoking the Armed Forces Special Powers Act and Disturbed Areas Act from certain areas of the state.
