Claiming that the government at the Centre is actually in a minority, Bharatiya Janata Party leader Sushma Swaraj on Saturday said mid-term general elections are a possibility for which her party is fully geared up for.

"The politics of the country is changing every day and in view of the present situation, there is a possibility of mid-term Lok Sabha polls," said Swaraj, who was in Dewas to take part in the District Vigilance and Monitoring Committee's meeting.

Talking to reporters, the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha claimed that the United Progressive Alliance in reality had the support of only 227 Members of Parliament in the Lower House, against the required 272.

In view of the "minority government in the Centre", the BJP was fully prepared for mid-term polls, she said.

When asked about the political situation in Uttarakhand, the BJP leader said the
situation there would become clear when the elections for Assembly Speaker and Rajya Sabha member from the state take place.

To a query, Sushma said the BJP Members of Legislative Assembly from Uttarakhand had come to Madhya Pradesh only for visiting religious places after the recently-concluded assembly elections in the hill state.
