More metallic debris was washed ashore on the Indian Ocean island of Reunion on Sunday as investigators probe the missing flight MH370.

It was thought one object discovered south of the city of St Denis may have been part of a door, reports BBC.

However, a spokesman for Australia's Transport and Infrastructure Minister Warren Truss said that more "objects are being brought to local stations but nothing 'obvious' so far. “No door," he added putting the rumours to rest.

Malaysian Transport Minister Liow Tiong Lai said civil aviation authorities were reaching out to their counterparts in other Indian Ocean territories to be on the lookout for more debris.

France and the United States identified the flaperon found on a Reunion Island beach last week, as one from Boeing 777, the same type of aircraft as the missing Malaysian airlines flight. A flaperon is part of a plane’s wing that helps control its speed and banking angle, reports CNN.

Experts are yet to conclude if the debris found on the Reunion Island last week is from Flight MH370.  The plane diapered on March 8, 2014 after leaving Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, for Beijing with 239 people on board.

The discovery of the flaperon comes after an extensive 16-month search that yielded no results.

Speculation has been rife since the plane went missing. The focus has primarily been    on a possible mechanical or structural failure, a hijacking or terror plot, or rogue pilot action, reports AFP.
