Metro stations remain open after revised police advisory

Six Metro stations in central Delhi, which were earlier announced to be closed for 10 hours due to security concerns over protest by Arvind Kejriwal and supporters, remained open throughout the day on Sunday.

A DMRC spokesman said the stations remained open throughout the day after Delhi Police revised their advisory. Six busy Metro stations in central Delhi were announced to remain close for 10 hours on Sunday as a precautionary measure following the call by Kejriwal to gherao residences of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Bharatiya Janata Party chief Nitin Gadkari.

Central Secretariat, Udyog Bhawan, Patel Chowk, Race Course, Jor Bagh and Khan Market stations falling near and around the residences of Singh and Gadkari were to  remain close from 8 am to 6 pm. Delhi Metro had taken the decision to close down the stations, five of which fall on the Gurgaon Line, after instructions from Delhi police.

But after Kejriwal and five others were detained it was decided that the stations would be opened, the DMRC spokesman said.
