Six vehicles, including three trucks carrying food grains, were torched by Maoists in the Naxal-affected Palamu district in Jharkhand on Thursday. Around 40 Maoists armed with firearms intercepted the vehicles, asked the drivers, cleaners and passengers to get off before setting the vehicles ablaze. The incident occurred on the Medininagar-Aurangabad road, said superintendent of police Anup T Mathew.

The trucks laden with rice, wheat and dal were on its way to Palamu from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. The police have launched a search operation to track down the culprits, said Mathew.
